“How many millilitres?” is a common opening question. Planning begins earlier, with your existing lip structure and what you hope to change.
Begin with your own face
A lip shape you admire in someone else may not create the same effect with your facial proportions. Discussing volume, definition and existing asymmetry separately can help clarify your goal. Perfect symmetry or a particular appearance cannot be guaranteed.
There is no universal amount
The choice and amount of hyaluronic acid filler depend on the tissue, product and treatment area. A conservative approach that respects existing features is relevant when considering a natural appearance. Explain your concern rather than committing to a volume before examination.
The first day is not the final assessment
Swelling, tenderness and bruising can occur. Review timing and aftercare depend on the product and individual circumstances. Ask about your follow-up plan and how to contact the clinic before leaving; discuss swelling with your clinician before seeking additional treatment.
Four questions before deciding
- What can this procedure reasonably address for me?
- Which product is proposed, and what are the alternatives?
- What are the risks and the plan for an unexpected problem?
- How will review and follow-up be arranged?
Fillers are medical procedures. Rare complications include vascular blockage, tissue injury and vision loss. Unusual severe pain, skin blanching or a change in vision during or after treatment require urgent medical assessment. A consultation does not oblige you to proceed.
